Community-based natural resource management (CBNRM) ![]() |
Community-based natural resource management (CBNRM) is the pursuit of effective and sustainable solutions for the management of natural resources by ensuring that responsibility over the resources lies with the people that use them; the local communities. CBNRM marries the sectors of food security, environmental management and sustainable livelihoods. Effective community-based solutions must provide for all three of these areas. CBNRM includes sustainable agriculture, land management, watershed management, community forestry, community fisheries, and protected area management.
